Hyundai Hope on Wheels (HHOW) is Hyundai’s nonprofit organization that partners with hundreds of dealerships across the country to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and build awareness for cancer. It’s a 23-year-strong initiative, and one that we’re proud to participate in. For every Hyundai sold at our dealership (and across the nation), a donation is given, which means that if you purchase a new Hyundai from us you’ll get to participate in our cause, too. Every car counts!

So what’s Hyundai’s overall mission? To find a cure for childhood cancer one handprint at a time. Since 1998 when Hope on Wheels started, Hyundai and their partners have donated more than $172 million and have given more than 1,000 major grants — ranging from $50,000-$1 million dollars — have been awarded to improve the standard of care for childhood cancers and fund vital research. Hyundai reached their target goal of $16 million dollars in the form of research grants to researchers at eligible Children’s Oncology Group member institutions in just 2020 alone.

Every year that HHOW visits children’s hospitals to donate funds, they hold a Handprint Ceremony for children to dip their hands in paint and place them on a sheet. The handprints are then collected and folded on Hyundai models that will be sold all over the country, essentially serving as a rainbow of awareness for the program. Each handprint represents kids who have survived, kids who are fighting and kids whose memories live on.
